How to get to Bromo Ijen From Yogyakarta? Bromo Ijen Tour From Yogyakarta | Yogyakarta to Bromo Car Rental, A road trip through Java is a real holiday adventure. The best route to take if you plan to drive from Yogyakarta to Bromo is to go to Cemoro Lawang Village Mount Bromo. The first part of the journey from Yogyakarta through to Solo is along a busy main road. However, once you get past Solo the trip becomes a lot more interesting and the countryside can be really spectacular. The area around Tawangmangu is one of the highlights of the trip. The area is in the highlands. The hills are covered with deciduous forest and the farmland is rich and fertile (you can buy fresh strawberries from the roadside stalls, which make for a tasty and healthy snack).

Mount Bromo or Bromo Volcano of indonesia called (Gunung Bromo) this name of Bromo derived from javanese pronunciation of Brahma the Hindu Creator God, is an active Volcano in East Java Indonesia. Mount Bromo, one of the top travel destinations in East Java Indonesia, is an active volcano situated in a surreal but spectacular massive caldera. While very busy with tourists, almost to the point of being a put-off at the sunrise viewpoints, it is definitely still worth a visit. The active volcano sits inside the gargantuan Tengger caldera – with a total diameter of around 10 km – and is surrounded by the Laut Pasir (Sea of Sand) that’s made up of fine volcanic sand. The overall setting is a sight to see – serene and beautifully other-wordly in stark comparison to the lush green valleys that surround the caldera.

How long from yogyakarta to bromo?

It takes about 11 hours to drive from Yogyakarta to Cemoro Lawang. Most tourists will stay overnight at a hotel in Cemoro Lawang Village Bromo and then leave early in the morning at about 03:30 Am to go to Mt Bromo for sunrise. This is a nice option, not only do you get a private driver who will take you where you want to go, it’s also a great way to see the countryside of Java. However, be warned all this driving is tiring.

While it is possible to drive from Yogyakarta to Surabaya and then to Bromo the route doesn’t really make much sense. Not only is it a longer drive, but there’s less to see on the way, many of our costumers feel bored so we suggest you to take a train/Flight From Yogakarta to Surabaya then from Juanda International Aiport Surabayba, We can help you to arrange your trip.

Yogyakarta To Bromo By Train

You can also take a plane to Surabaya, but time-wise train is almost as good and much less hassle. My recommendation is to somehow book the train in advance (you cannot book without Indonesian CC so will have to pay a commission to a hotel, tour operator etc) in my opinion worth it if you don’t want to end up in Bisniss Class (which is 2nd class). Executive class has air con (to excess) and very comfy seats (well, we only had a look at them, didn’t get the chance to actually sit on them). Yogya Surabaya journey is 4 hours (maybe a tad longer if the train is late).

A Bromo tour to arriving in Yogya- it’s best to use companies based in Surabaya or Malang that have local knowledge and contacts. We are very reliable. We can pick you up from Surabaya station or aiport.

Best way to get from Yogyakarta to Bromo

There’s no ‘best way’ to go from Yogyakarta to Bromo. If you’re on a tight itinerary I’d recommend flying from Yogyakarta to Surabaya and then arranging a car rental to take you to Bromo and Ijen. If you have the tim, however, a road trip through Java is a great experience.
